Hello!

The Imperial Hotel has transformed its rooftop into Diagon Alley complete with house-made ‘potions’ and an incredible view.

Vertic Alley is the latest addition to Melbourne’s rooftop bar scene, but it has a magical twist that sets it apart from the rest. The bar is entirely inspired by the world of Harry Potter with six magical ‘stores’ taking over the booths, potion themed drinks and delicious food…they even cater for kids!

Bringing Magic To Life

The six store themed booths put a spin on the original Diagon Alley from JK Rowling’s original books, with guests able to select The Owlery, Spring St Spell Books, Impossible Feats Of Trickery, Bourke St Wands, Wills and Burke or wizarding bank WIZPAC for their group of ten to twenty. Visitors to the bar will be spoilt for choice with a selection of incredible drinks on offer which true Potter fans will have no trouble recognising! Liquid Luck sounds like a cocktail everyone needs in their life, with Ketel One citron, vanilla Galliano, lemon and apricot. If you’re looking for something a little more ‘Hogwarts,’ Pumpkin Juice will give you an authentic experience with a little extra something, mixing Fireball, pumpkin juice, lemon and egg white. Any true witch or wizard knows that Butterbeer is the magical world’s drink of choice, and the bar serves its own delicious version combining real beer with whipped cream and cinnamon. There’s even a non-alcoholic version for the kids!

A Little Taste Of Hogwarts

If you’re looking for something a little more substantial, Vertic Alley’s menu offers a selection of delicious options including cursed wings, Imperial pumpkin pasties, Gillyweed tacos and Siriusly black sliders to name a few! It’s worth noting that once the kitchen closes, or on particularly busy days, kids are not allowed on the rooftop bar so try to time your visit if you want your little ones to tag along.

The bar is open everyday from 11am until late – go and check it out!

Which cocktail would you most like to try at Vertic Alley? Let us know in the comments!

There is a store in Canberra ‘Quizzic Alley‘ that has ALOT of Harry Potter themed stuff (Jelly Belly chocolate jumping frogs, chocolate wands and jelly slugs, and sorting hats) as well as the replica flying car Anglican.
Now that place is worth a visit too.
Oh and you can have birthday parties there too. Yay!

  • I’m not a Harry Potter fan, I haven’t read a single book or seen a single movie, so thus does nothing for me

    • You should give the books a try. They are cleverly written for adults too.
