This naked dinner aims to fight negative body image and push women outside of their comfort zone.

Body image is an ongoing struggle for many women and it doesn’t discriminate – women of any age, body type and relationship status can feel self conscious about the way that they look. In an attempt to fight poor body image, Gypsy Artemis and Lauren Monty are hosting the Shameless! Fully Naked Dinner in the hope that it will encourage women to feel more confident, celebrate their beauty and push themselves outside of their comfort zone.

Let Yourself Be Seen

Inviting women to join them for the ‘out there’ dinner experience , the duo say that they were inspired to host it after seeing the impact of conventional ideas of beauty on the way women perceived themselves. “Most women have something about their body they would like to change…maybe a little something that doesn’t quite fit our culture’s idea of ‘beautiful’,” they said. “By being naked, we are allowing ourselves to be fully seen in all the ways: physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally…as we leave ourselves little to hide behind.” Guests will be served a gluten free, vegan meal and the event is strictly alcohol free.

Getting Personal

Lauren’s high school experience, and her attendance at a ‘naked dinner’ last year, inspired her to get involved in hosting the event. “I was so severely tormented in High School because of my weight,” she said. “That created deep wounds that were compounded with layer after layer of shame and self loathing from the brainwashing of our society telling us how we SHOULD look. I had the pleasure of attending a naked dinner in 2018 and it was such an incredibly liberating experience.”

With the rise of social media, and the growing prevalence of filters and photo editing, the pressure to look perfect can be overwhelming. Events like these offer the chance for women to reclaim a sense of confidence and support each other in embracing their flaws and insecurities.

The dinner will be held on February 16th from 5:45pm at the Umina Beach Yoga Studio, with tickets available from Eventbrite.

  • A very strange thing but I guess good for those who attend.
I think people would still be judging you as that’s what people do so I defs wouldn’t be comfortable with it.

  • Each to their own but not for me thanks

  • That is certainly unique but I think I’ll pass.

  • No thanks. I would be thinking about other naked bodies sitting on the same chairs I’m sitting on, with their juicey bits squished on the chairs, ew!

  • It wouldn’t worry me at all. I’d happily be nude at a dinner – just want someone else to cook a really lovely dinner for me for once in my life. I’m 74 and I don’t have much to complain about with my body

  • It’s a hard no from me but great idea for others.

  • I’m not comfortable with this idea. I see what they are trying to do but it’s not something I would participate in.

  • Dinner in the nude is not something that I would be comfortable doing.

    Reply

  • No way! I would not ever do this, kinda gross if you ask me! Eating food in the nude with other people!

  • I’m reasonably comfortable in my skin , but I’d decline this invite! I don’t really see the need to bare all just to prove it.

  • If I was invited to a gURLs only no clothes party, I would swiftly decline. Not comfortable enough with my own body and privacy issues to be able to strip off in front of others

  • Wow that’s gold and a great idea. Such a great cause

  • They should hold one with real food too!

  • I agree that they should have their btm private parts covered, for hygiene as well.

    Reply

  • No, I honestly dont think it would be very comfortable and would make me more aware of how I look.
