A first-time mum has been left shocked after her tiny six-month-old baby girl started to walk.

Little Freya Minter barely looks old enough to crawl, let alone walk unaided – something that has shocked her parents, Grace and Ryan, both 29.

UK Mum, Grace,  now spends her time running around after her pint-sized toddler after she began walking on Monday, March 25.

The average age for babies to start walking is around a year old, but Freya is well ahead of her peers, shares The Mirror.

Grace said: “Freya was able to stand up whilst holding on to our fingers for balance, by the time she was four months old.

“We could tell she was desperate to walk from then but it wasn’t until she was six months old that it actually happened.

“Her face was priceless when she took her first two steps, she had the cheekiest grin, Ryan and I couldn’t believe it.

“At first, I thought it was a fluke, but then when she continued to walk a few steps here and there, I was amazed.

“She has completely skipped crawling and has walked straight away but she hasn’t quite mastered how to get around things yet, she tries to go over them.

“We need eyes at the back of our heads now as she is so quick and always wants to be involved.

“We brought her a walker but her feet don’t even touch the ground, so we didn’t attempt to use it again, so she has learnt all by herself.

“She is our first child so we don’t know any different but we’re so proud of her.”

On average a baby starts to sit up on their own at six months and begins walking with support between nine to 12 months.

WOW!  That is crazy. My boys were both 11 months when they started walking. Both didn’t crawl until 8 months.

When did your little ones start getting mobile?

  • Have heard of this before but it is quite rare. It would have been a bit of a shock. I believe the crawling stage is necessary for good co-ordination, but it can be helped by marching as well.

  • That’s very fast, although my cousin’s child started at around 6 or 7mths too. That being said it’s not necessarily a great thing since she has skipped crawling – I have heard that this can mean that they don’t have very good coordination as they get older.

  • Wow! I don’t know that it’s necessarily a proud moment, I’m sorry you haven’t enjoyed longer before your child walks. Once they walk, you have to be on high alert all the time.

  • My daughter walk the day she was 10 months she walked holding onto things since about 8 months but the day she was 10 months she let go and walked from one end of the room to the other by herself. My boys both could walk by 7 months old.

  • Way too early, this could set her up for problems later on, bones are not fully formed. If I was the mother I would be not so happy and discouraging it. Talk to the experts and they will tell you why.
