These Game of Thrones superfans have given their daughter a name inspired by three of their favourite television series…

When UK parents Kay and Glyn were deciding on a name for their daughter they didn’t look to family favourites or baby books but took inspiration from their favourite TV series’ instead. Kay says their daughter is miracle baby, as she was told she wouldn’t be able to conceive again, and felt it was only appropriate to give her an incredible name as a result.

A Bit Of A Mouthful

The couple, who already have four other children together, were told that they would be unable to get pregnant again after Kay had pre-cancerous cells removed from her cervix. They were delighted to discover that against all the odds, they were pregnant with twins, however one twin did not survive and their daughter’s survival was uncertain. After carrying the baby to term, Kay changed her mind about what she was to be called. “I had always said she would be called Rosie but then because of what we’d been through already, I decided I wanted something a little more unique and special,” she said. Kay and Glyn settled on a one of a kind name for their little girl, naming her Bellatrix Daenerys Leia Davies after their favourite characters from Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Star Wars.

The couple says that the name has allowed them plenty of choices when it comes to decorating their daughter’s room. “We have bought anything and everything,” they said. “Some people don’t know where (the name) is from…but the important thing is that it is special to us.”

Bellatrix will definitely have a challenge when it comes to writing her name for the first time! We admire these parents for choosing a name for their daughter that is meaningful for them, regardless of what others may think.

  • I like Daenerys as a name. Our daughter is named after a character from Dr Who and our son is named after a character from Neighbours. Lol

  • I think kids with weird names are just targets for bullies. By the time the kids starts school GOT will not even be remembered

  • No we didn’t name our kids after a film or tv show character

  • That’s certainly a mouthful!!

  • I think its just coincidences. They probably won’t even know what GoT is when they’re older as it will be something new

    • GOT will fade over time and the names will have less relevance in ‘pop culture’.

  • Not intentionally – though my son is named Theodore and someone said just like the chipmunks! Extra funny because he has super chubby cheeks too.

  • Those names aren’t too weird, and they mean something to the parents. All good.

  • Nope – Names not chosen for a TV show or movie character.
