A grieving mother has publicly forgiven the school bullies who contributed to her daughter’s suicide three months ago.

Samantha Taylor, from Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands, turned to social media saying she no longer blames her daughter’s bullies, insisting they were ‘too young to understand’ what they were doing.

Taking to Facebook Mrs Taylor appeared to direct the post to her daughter’s bullies directly saying ‘you know who you are.’

She said: ‘Although she fought hard and valiantly to overcome the damage that you caused, in the end she lost her fight, just when she seemed to be finally turning a corner.

‘She never got a chance to do her exams at Millburn because she was too terrified to go to school.

The mum added, ‘I forgive you, because you were only young when you inflicted this damage, too young to understand what you were doing.

‘I know that you will always have the guilt of knowing that you were a contributing factor in our precious Jade’s early demise, and that is punishment enough.’

“I am not writing this post out of hatred or revenge.

Instead of adding to your pain by blaming you, I want to ask you to do something for Jade, in her honour and her memory.

‘I want you to always make the time in your life to help the people that you go to college or uni with, or work with, people like Jade,’ she said.

‘Gentle, sensitive, quirky people who have trouble fitting in, or try too hard to fit in because they don’t think they are good enough just as they are.

‘Go out of you way to include them, give them compliments, boost their self-confidence and self-esteem. Be kind to them and support them.

‘And when you become parents yourselves, please, please teach your kids to be kind to their classmates.

‘Explain to them that some people take things to heart more than they should, so it’s important to be gentle, kind, and inclusive.’

Adding, ‘I am writing this post as a small step towards ensuring that Jades life was not in vain. It’s all I have the energy to do at this point, just 3 months after the BPD took her from us.’

Her post attracted more than 6,000 shares and over a hundred comments from Facebook users. She is certainly more forgiving than I could ever be. I simply can’t imagine that pain.

  • She is a better person than I am, I would like to think I could forgive but the reality is different

  • She might be forgiving but it will be a sad time in her life forever.
Others may think they will be forgiven if they do equivalent of the same actions

  • I admire this mum for her strength and attitude towards the blues of her daughter. Forgiveness gives space to heal and to move into positive use of this tragic incident.

  • Her message is a positive one, but the bullies were not too young to know what they were doing, and I doubt they even care. Most people instinctively know right from wrong from a very early age.

  • This mothers strength and being able to forgive at a time like this truely shows the type of person she is, especially to be able to make something positive come out of this. No child should ever be bullied and more needs to be done

  • I don’t think they should get forgiveness, but yes a reminder of what they can do to change and work towards a better future instead of continuing the behaviors that caused the girls death

  • Her headstone says she was 19. I’m afraid that is old enough to understand the consequences of their actions! I wouldn’t have been so forgiving.

  • Poor girl. It’s so terrible that she had to decide to end her life. And I agree: I don’t think I would be able to forgive who pushed her to that point. :-(

  • I don’t think I could have been as forgiving to as this mum. She is so brave to forgive the kids who essentially took away her daughters life. Bullying is such a horrible thing that happens and It makes me so upset to hear that kids are doing things like this because of it. RIP gorgeous girl, and strength to her family

  • No way! There is so much in the media and in our schools about bullying, kids would know all about the damage it does from the day they start school. I know I couldn’t be so forgiving….
