Hello!

Radio host and comedian Harley Breen is a true fountain of parenting knowledge.

The one struggle Harley has as a dad is putting his 6mth old baby boy, Walter, to sleep.

He came up with a plan and we wish we had thought of it earlier!

YouTube to the rescue!

Watch below as Harley explains why he googled “white noises” to save his sanity.

One helpful comment on the thread did recommend her try the apps, “Sound Sleeper” and “Baby Sleep Sounds – White Noise Generator”. Might be worth a shot for any desperate mums and dads out there!

Have you got any cool tips we need to share?

  • going for a quick drive in the car works wonders! my kids have all loved being in the car which made getting errands etc done much easier. My friend has a child who screams like crazy the minute she gets strapped in, poor gal

  • one of mine hears all the noises when she sleeps (she is 10 and I think we tried to eliminate anything that made noise when she was a baby), my other one sleeps through security system alarms going off ( we did all the noises with her! and she is now 6)

  • Not white but we used a lot of noise and now the kids can sleep through almost anything so it had benefits right into the future.

  • Interesting !
We never used white noise, just noise as it’s never quiet in the house ;)

  • Way back when I had my first born the nurses would push the cribs with unsettled bubs in them next to the refrigerator.

  • I used white noise with my second and third (twins). My first I didn’t know better and wasn’t making that mistake again! Creeping around for fear of her waking at any noise! White noise worked great for my twins. Slept through anything and still do.

  • My eldest is deaf, and none of these sorts of things worked!

    • BellaB, Is he 100% deaf? If not have you tried playing calming music, just loud enough that your eldest one can hear it, or would it disturb everyone else too much.
