The replies to this dads quite serious question are just too funny!

I know we shouldn’t laugh, we are guessing the parents genuinely wanted some helpful advice, but what they received had us in fits of laughter.

Shared on the Life of Dad Facebook page the mum asked: “Our 15 month old has started to hit us with his hand and headbutt us. How can we teach him that it’s not the right thing to do? I think to him it’s a joke or something. Any advice?”

The post has received over 22,000 comments.

Some of the hilarious replies include:

” Your child obviously identifies as either a kangaroo or a goat. This should not only be nurtured, but encouraged. Use a picture book so he can help you identify which. A simple google search will then help you select the ideal foods to feed him.”

“Get a spray bottle and spritz him in the face… works on my cat.”

“He’s telling you he’s ready for the Spartan test of manhood. Release him into the wild and if he returns alive, welcome him back as a true Spartan warrior.”

“Have you tried turning him off and then back on again?”

“Did you ever stop to think you deserve it? Around here snitches get stitches!”

“The problem isn’t with your toddler… You need to work on your defense game! Keep them hands up and Bob n weave!

Also if he goes for the headbutt, make a V with your fingers and go for the eye. Thank me later ”

“You already broke the #1 rule…… No one talks about fight club!”

“Make sure he’s keeping his other hand up and teach him to throw punches in bunches…Headbutts can be risky to use but I like his commitment to winning…”

“I asked my 2 year old how do we teach someone to quit hitting. His response: dinosaurs. Dinosaurs bro that’s your answer. Figure it out.”

“Remember the 5 D’s of dodgeball: Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.”

” Give it to a neighbor or a relative for good. Then just make another one.”

“Ask yourself this important question: Does this child spark joy?”

“Sounds like you have a defective one. Try taking it back to the store and see if you can’t get an exchange or your money back. Depends on if you got the extended warranty. May just have to toss it and buy a new one.”

We can’t stop laughing!

  • These replies on this article are hilarious but for this dad it is a serious issue and he was wanting helpful answers. Your child is just going through a normal stage in his development and maybe is expressing his frustration and anger as he can’tr talk well yet. I would use time out or distraction might be better at this age,

  • Pmsl at the replies. I feel for the parents as id have no clue. There must be some kids books that tell a story with the moral about hitting etc. Id probably start there. And have a start system. Gold stars get a fun thing to do. Hitting removes stars ??? not sure. Depends on their age and what they understand.

  • Smart arse replies – nothing that really helps though.
Don’t know how to answer that would help though – none of my children ever did that.
Guess you have to go back to Square 1 before he started to do this and see what triggered it, then you can work it out and stop him.

  • Some of the answers are so funny but, to be serious, maybe he has had this happen to him and been told it’s just a fun thing that people do. Maybe try to get him to explain why he thinks it’s funny and then you will have a better idea of how to handle the problem
