Bride feels betrayed after her close friend reveals pregnancy before her wedding.

A bride-to-be has taken to Reddit to share her frustration after finding out her close friend and bridesmaid will be six months pregnant on her big day The Daily Mail reports. Posting on the popular website, she asked readers whether she was right to be angry or if her reaction to the news was entirely selfish.

A Change Of Plans

The bridesmaid in question was responsible for planning the bachelorette party which the bride now worries will be changed to accomodate the pregnancy. “This bridesmaid was also planning my super secret bachelorette party that I know no details of, but I’m assuming it involved drinking that will probably either be changed or cancelled,” she said. The bride says she believes that members of the bridal party who become pregnant should immediately tell the bride due to the impact it can have on the day, from the organising of the ceremony, to the dresses and photographs. Despite attempting to explain her outrage, the post has since been deleted after a stream of comments criticising the bride for being a ‘bridezilla.’

Life On Hold

Responses were quick to label the bride’s expectations as selfish. “It’s good that you’re entertaining the idea that this reaction is selfish,” wrote one commenter. “It means there’s hope you won’t bridezilla all over the place.” “You can’t ask someone to put their life on hold for your wedding,” wrote another. “You are being selfish.” Others pointed out that expecting someone to share news of their pregnancy immediately was unreasonable. “Many people wait until the first trimester is over to tell people…So no, your bridesmaid was not obligated to tell you anything.”

We think the whole thing is just ridiculous when both women have something exciting and wonderful to celebrate. If a pregnant bridesmaid is the only thing the bride has to worry about, she’s doing pretty well!

Do you think this bride is overreacting or has she got a point? Let us know in the comments.

  • I know that the wedding day is supposed to be all about the couple and mainly the bride but the fact that this woman is so self obsessed is a huge red flag for the groom.

  • Apart from potential issues with the bridesmaid dress, the pregnancy shouldn’t affect the bacherlorette party surely.

  • How ridiculous. Everyone should be happy about both situations. There’s enough happiness to go round

  • Of course she’s over reacting! What a selfish drama queen! She should be happy that her friend is pregnant, not jealous

  • If she was a true friend she would have been happy for her friend expecting, not make it about herself

  • A wedding day is just one day. A baby is for life. Celebrate people’s happiness not inconvenience on over drinking and strippers

  • Perhaps she could have told the bride sooner, but still the bride is overreacting.

  • I can see her point but at the same time it’s not that big a deal. The bridesmaid just won’t drink any alcohol.

  • I can see points on both sides it’s not an easy situation. That being said if she was a really close friend you’d think she’d want to share her news anyway.

  • I can definitely see her point, I would’ve told the bride

  • I can see her point, it does change the prep for her wedding

  • Such an overreaction, no need for it, she should be happy for her …..

    • I agree! If this happened to me my first thought would be happiness for them not sadness for my day being ruined

  • I think she is over reacting. It would have been nice to know sooner but she is making a very big deal of it.

  • I don’t understand why the bridesmaid didn’t say anything. But, beside that, I don’t think that the fact that she’s pregnant is affecting the marriage. Unless she is due around those days of course. :-)

  • A bridesmaid is usually a very close friend. I would be over the moon for her but then worried about making sure her dress fits lol
