I just did this with my dishwasher! It worked brilliantly and was much cheaper than the dishwasher cleaner products available.

This is a great, cheap way to clean your dishwasher! However…Vinegar is ascetic acid and baking soda is sodium bicarbonate (ie- chemicals)- the reason this works is due to a chemical reaction. I know it might seem like simple semantics but there is a big difference between “chemicals” and “harmful or harsh chemicals”. Calling this chemical free is incorrect- many people are now hugely paranoid about “chemicals” and in a mostly unnecessary way!

  To me the word “soda” gives me the impression that it has salt in it. I wouldn’t use it on a metal surface.

    Do you think just white vinegar and water would work? I don’t use my dishwasher a lot but it has developed a strange smell ???

White vinegar and baking soda are so versatile.
