Ardent Leisure have indicated that there will be no new major attractions for Dreamworld following the long awaited launch of Sky Voyager.

Dreamworld still struggles to rebuild following the death of four people on the Thunder River Rapids ride on the Gold Coast two years ago.

The theme park is said to focus on “capital-light” entertainment and reducing their footprint through land redevelopment.

In a move that signals the end of Dreamworld’s supposed recovery plan that was to include in excess of $50 million spent on rides and attractions to revitalise the stagnating theme park, Ardent Leisure have announced that there are no new major attractions on their way despite more slumps in attendance and further losses.

Sky Voyager was planned for opening in December 2018 but is still yet to open.

The company maintains the new $17 million Sky Voyager flying theatre ride is scheduled to open at Dreamworld before July, having previously flagged a summer 2018 opening, while there are no further major attractions planned at the park despite previous plans to expand, shares 7 news.

For the six months to 25 December 2018 Dreamworld posted $12.4 million in losses off the back of $34.4 million in revenue, down marginally on the corresponding period of $34.7 million.

  • I would feel uncomfortable visiting after the things that came out at the inquest.

  • It’s sad that one accident stop so many people from visiting Dreamworld. After such a tragic accident, the safety on rides would be such a high priority, I’m sure there’s nothing for us to worry about now

  • I hope they are putting more focus on safety. Management needs to encourage this from the highest levels.

  • I’ve never been there.
Accidents in attraction park happen everywhere over the world. Frequent safety checks are most important.

  • I have been going to dreamworld for over 30 years. I hope my kids can go for the next 30 years. Prices are becoming something not every family can afford on holidays

  • It’s crazy how expensive these places are. I went and didn’t find this place to be amazing at all. Perhaps lowering the cost so more families could visit more frequently and in turn pay more inside on food and rides would be the better option.

  • I went to dreamworld a few years back but I don’t really like theme parks

  • No doubt the property will be sold to wipe out at least some of its debt. I can’t see the owner transferring funds from another of his businesses. It doesn’t make sense to do that

  • We went to dreamworld when we were at the Gold Coast last year. The kids had fun, but it wasn’t as busy as when I had been years ago- before the accident.

  • I went years ago… But I’d certainly hesitate now.

  • What a shame. I’ve never been but would love to go. The deaths won’t stop me from going, stuff like that can happen anywhere

  • With such large losses I’m not sure that Dreamworld will be able to stay open long term.

  • I don’t think dreamworld will ever recover from the deaths of the 4 who lost their lives at the park. I used to love taking my kids there but since the deaths we haven’t been back and I am sure many others haven’t been back either.
