Congratulations to the ever gorgeous Rachel Bilson on the arrival of her baby girl!

A representative has confirmed the news that the Heart of Dixie star and her fiancee Hayden Christensen welcomed their first baby, Briar Rose Christensen, into the world on the 29th October. Both Mum and bub are said to be doing well.

Briar Rose is a name you might recognise… it’s the original title of Sleeping Beauty written by the Grimm Brothers back in the 17th century.

It’s also a name that pops up in the Disney’s version from 1959 of Sleeping Beauty when princess Aurora is given the pseudonym of Briar Rose to protect her from harm.

Star wars actor Hayden Christensen and Rachel met on the set of a movie back in 2007 and became engaged in December 2008. Their relationship then took a turn for the worse and the engagement was called off in 2010, luckily they made amends and have been strong ever since.

The couple were over the moon when they learned that they were going to become parents:

“They’ve both talked about this for a while and are so excited,” a source told Us Weekly. “Everyone is beyond thrilled for them.”

Congratulations to the happy couple, we wish them all the best!

  • I like their choice of name and the inspiration behind it. It’s lovely and tame by Hollywood standards. My son’s name is a derivative of Alexander. He is half French, so we decided on Alexis (in French the “s” is not pronounced so it sounds like Alexi). Derivatives of Alexander both male and female can be found in most languages. I love the meaning “Protector of Man or mankind” I also loved the fact that Alexander the Great was prepared to be courageous enough to explore parts of the world that no man had been prepared to go to before. It was probably always going to be a French name and when I heard his father say that name one day I absolutely loved it.

  • Hollywood is raining babies at the moment. What a beautiful name. My son has his father’s name as his middle name and his first name Boden was a change on something similar we liked.
