KitKat Ruby is here!

Ruby chocolate is the fourth type of chocolate, after milk, dark and white, and is the world’s only new cocoa bean variety to be discovered in 80 years.

KitKat Ruby will be available to chocolate lovers across Australia in Woolworths for $2 after a sell-out success in Melbourne in 2018.

The chocolate features a distinctive, all-natural pink hue, an intense berry flavour and a luscious smooth texture, combined with iconic crisp KitKat wafer fingers.

Made using rare ruby cocoa beans – found only in a few locations including Côte d’Ivoir, Ecuador and Brazil.

‘Ruby chocolate was an instant hit at KitKat Chocolatory last year, with KitKat Ruby Sublime selling out in just 10 days,’ Head Chocolatier Connie Yuen said.

‘KitKat has been inundated with requests from consumers across the country since Ruby chocolate was introduced.’

‘We’re delighted to be giving more people the chance to try it, with the launch of limited edition KitKat Ruby, timed perfectly to celebrate ruby chocolate’s first birthday in Australia!’

KitKat Ruby ($2) is available at Woolworths stores nationally from May 1 for a limited time only.

  • Well there you go. I thought that it just had things added to make it pink.

  • I like the pink, hope it tastes as good as it looks.

  • Hmm not sure about this. I am a dark choc fan. I don’t think I will give it a go.

  • I bought this the other day. It was really nice. The bar was smaller than a normal kit Kat but that’s not a bad thing

  • Sounds delicious I wonder how it tastes.

  • OMG. Kit Kat is my favourite anyway and I’m an absolute sucker when the bring something new out. I wish I had seen this story earlier, I’m worried it won’t be there anymore!

  • No doubt it will have more artificial flavors. Great business idea for a company that has no credentials in supporting sustainable cocoa bean farming. No I will not buy, buy fair trade organic only.

  • Maybe they were manufactured exclusively for Woolworths. I notice they will only be available for a limited time.

  • I wonder how sweet they’ll be. I tried the green tea ones from Japan tats wayyy too sweet. But i like the original ones. Might give it a go with this, share it with kids.

    • I’m sure the KitKat variety is rather sweet ! Ruby Chocolate on it self isn’t. Ruby chocolate is made from the ruby cocoa bean. “Ruby beans” are existing botanical cocoa bean varieties that have been identified as having the right attributes to be processed into ruby chocolate.
The chocolate’s taste is described as “sweet yet sour”, with “little to none” of the cocoa flavour traditionally associated with other varieties of chocolate.
