Hello!

Bunnings has joined in the plastic container promotion war with an awesome deal of their own.

Yesterday we shared that Woolworths had upped Coles with their awesome deal, offering nine-packs of Sistema containers for just $9.

Coles are offering FREE plastic food containers to shoppers, who earn one container credit for every $20 spent in store. But by the time you earn enough credits to claim just one free container you would have spent $200.

Bunnings takes the cake!

Bunnings has gone even better, with one shopper revealing to the Markdown Addicts Australia group that she picked up a 17-pack for just $5.

She writes: ‘If you’re like me and missed out on the Woolworths $5 9-pack containers, I found in my local Bunnings 17-piece food storage containers on clearance for $5.

Even at full price of $6.98 it is still a bargain!

Also available online here.

  • Dang…I totally missed these sales

  • I’m curious to know the quality of these containers

  • I wish they would go for glass or recycled plastic containers!!!

  • I still think the Coles container offer is generous, just for doing your normal shopping. There are only so many containers you can use.

  • Wow! I have enough plastic containers right now but more can’t hurt and it is such a good price. I love that all these stores are competing with each other because we reap the benefits.

  • I have enough plastic containers to last a long time. If you’re not in a hurry for the containers then Coles is the way to go (while the containers last).

  • This is so funny. But just to remember with Coles… you don’t have to be involved in the promotion. And I certainly wouldn’t be spending any extra money just to get them. It’s a free reward for shopping with them. I think that keeps getting lost in the outrage.

    • Exactly people get so caught up on how much needs to be spent instead of just doing their normal thing and getting an extra reward.

  • I only want a couple of a certain size containers – 17, 15 or whatever is just too much and I end up throwing them all out bar for the one I wanted in the first place. And to buy the one single size costs more than the 17 pack! Go figure?

  • I prefer to get something of quality, sometimes these deals are cheap and nasty and don’t last.

  • I would be wary of these cheap plastic containers, are they even safe? Are they BPA free and free of other chemicals that can leach into food. Glass is much better and safer, yes might cost more but lasts a lot longer too. You can use old jars to store food quite easily. I have all sizes to store my food. There are also stainless steal options for portable containers to take your lunch. Plastic is ruining the planet in more ways than one.

  • We had plastic lunch boxes which were washed (by had) for over 40 years, I think that was a very good effort. The only reason we stopped using them was because the lids started to split. I used mine part of the time at High School and the 40 years that I worked.

  • Not more plastic containers! Give me money off my shop, please.

  • The supermarkets container war is driving me mad I don’t want plastic containers I have so many just give us a 5$ -$10 rewards gift card and Iam happy

  • Switch over to glass. They are so much lovelier to use.

    • And so much healthier, storing food in plastic is risky.
