This mum proudly showed off the set up she had created for her son until some suggested it could have another purpose…

An Aussie mum has taken to Facebook to proudly share the ‘relaxation station’ she created for her teenage son using Kmart products. The ‘relaxation station’ put together essentials her son might need in one convenient tray, sending the mum’s post viral – but not for the reasons she probably wanted it to!

Good Intentions

The mum said she had wanted to make her son’s room more comfortable for him. “I love this hack! I just bought a Kmart soap dispenser and bathroom tray to use as my son’s relaxation station,” she wrote. “He likes to watch internet TV in bed and he has a chronic runny nose (tissues for days – I think it’s the aircon!) and he has problems with dry skin and goes through heaps of hand cream.” The mum went on to say that she had put sorbolene into the marble soap dispenser and a box of tissues on the tray. “Now he has everything he uses, all in one spot!” she said.

Mum Creates Relaxation Station For Son

An Innocent Mistake

While the mum seemed incredibly proud of the setup, comments on the post were quick to point out that it could have another use. “What an amazing idea to disguise the masturbation station,” said one Facebook user of the Kmart creation. “I’m actually dying,” said another. Others said that the mum may have inadvertently found a way to deal with an otherwise awkward situation. “This is what all our sons need in their rooms,” said one mum. “As a mother of three boys, I feel like I should do this in the near future too,” said another.

Despite accusations that the post may have been a prank, we think that this mum probably just wanted to do something thoughtful for her son. Even though it wasn’t her intention, she may have just given the parents of teenage boys a clever way to avoid uncomfortable conversations…

  • Oh lordy….well good on her. Hope she also included a rubbish bin

  • Hahaha! If it was intention, then good on her for accepting that it’s natural and not a shameful thing to feel bad about. She did explain why though. We have tissues in our bedrooms and myself and my daughter have hand cream or moisturiser. Some people have their mind in the gutter haha

  • This was definitely not my immediate thought!

  • What a sweet and thoughtful mum!

  • Wouldn’t it be wonderful if people thought above the belt?
I didn’t see anything wrong with what was done in the room and I would like to see cleaner minds on all platforms.

  • I’m sorry – but to point out it’s x-rated – that person is the one with a dirty mind! the mother had legitimate reasons they explained for setting it up.

  • People have a rude mind these days. I would not have thought of it until someone said it. But hand cream I would have thought to have it in the bathroom or kitchen or both in my case. In the end, what a thoughtful mother that cares for her son.

  • It’s a good gesture by the Mum to have what he needs in his room. If you have a runny nose you don’t want to have to rush to another room to get tissues. If you have dry skin you may not want to go to the bathroom during the night to apply more moisturiser when the really dry patches of skin start itching. I sometimes wake up during the night because the skin on the top of one of my feet gets itchy and hot sometimes. If I put too much on in advance it makes a mess on my sheets. If I wear socks they absorb it so it is a “no win” problem for me. Some people will put a lot of things in a different context.

  • I think if you have a teenage boy, you could better understand the use of many tissues or similar, etc. I thought this was a funny and very relatable read. I do hope this Mum, whilst doing such a lovely thing, now realises what her son might be doing privately in his room. Still a lovely idea.

  • I must be thick but I didn’t think that she was doing anything that was wrong. Why does everything seem to always revert to something to do with sex. I was more thinking he wouldn’t want to leave his room because it was more like a man cave.

    • Me too! Maybe it’s because I don’t have a teenage son…

  • That is hilarious.

  • An innocent mistake but hilarious haha, it was very obvious from the beginning where this was heading.

  • I didn’t realise either until I kept reading the article.

  • Lol I knew where this was headed.

  • My mind didn’t even go there.
