Hello!

Hi Mums and hope you’re bubbling through the (early) Winter Chills if you have them at your place. Despite the cold, I’ve made a resolution that next week I’m going to have at least one thing checked. Now that’s not really that amazing – in fact I have a massive list of things that need doing given I’m now over FOUR O! Read into that Pap Smear (yuck), cholesterol test (which means blood test which freaks me out), blood pressure check (looks as though I’m following the maternal side of the family with thick waists and stressed out hearts) not to mention the decidedly unsavoury (in my opinion) but absolutely necessary mammogram! Never had one of these but have visions of my breast remaining squashed flat forever – never to regain any shape resembling a breast. Then of course Winter is a great time to get your skin checked – if there’s anything that needs zapping, your skin will have plenty of ‘covered up time’ to heal before that hot summer sun returns.

Oh the list, the list, the list is long. And I wonder what you have on your list that you keep putting to the bottom of the pile (below your kids of course)?

So, I thought we could all register this week what we’ll achieve by this time next week and then check in to let everyone know we did it.

HI, MY NAME IS NIKKI & BY THIS TIME NEXT WEEK, I will have been to the GP to have a PAP SMEAR!

Come on mums – we need to be as healthy as we can! Our kids need us to be on top of our game! Go on, pick up the phone and book your first check up … now! What are you going to have checked this week?

  • Glad pap smears are every 5 years now…
It’s always awkward and uncomfortable having them.

  • I have regular breast screens, Pap smears, eye exams and blood tests. Am going to ask about bone density test next gp visit

  • So true. I’m sure if men had larger breasts like women, mammograms wouldn’t be so painful (and our boobs wouldn’t be squashed flat).
