The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have sparked fresh royal baby fever as they referred to their first child as ‘Baby Sussex’ for the first time.

On their official Instagram page today, Prince Harry and Meghan thanked royal fans for donating to charities for children and parents instead of sending them gifts.

As they count the total amount raised ahead of the baby’s arrival, the couple added: ‘On behalf of The Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex), we thank you so much.’

The reference to ‘Baby Sussex’ delighted royal fans on social media, with one praising the initiative and saying: ‘Mentioning Baby Sussex is the cherry on top!’

Followers were quick to point out every time they see an update they get excited that it’s the big announcement.

Meghan has not been spotted in public since mid March.

Just one week ago, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked that you kindly consider supporting various organisations around the world in lieu of sending gifts for the upcoming arrival of their first born. Not only did many of you lend your support, you took action. Their Royal Highnesses wanted you to know the impact of your support – the direct effect your donation, energy, and action made! YOU chose to be part of the collective good, and you have made a real difference. Whether a $5 donation, £1000 contribution, offering to volunteer, or spreading the word – you’ve played your part. And on behalf of The Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex), we thank you so much. YOUR IMPACT: @thelunchboxfund will now be able to provide a minimum of 100,000 additional hot nutritionally fortified meals to children in dire need across South Africa @littlevillagehq received donations from all over the world (from UAE to Hong Kong and the US), they’ve increased their monthly donors, had a surge in volunteer applications, and re-energized their hard working team of 200+ staff and volunteers @wellchild can now provide 300+ additional hours of specialist care by a Well Child Nurse for a child with serious health needs, allowing families to stay together at home vs in hospital @Baby2Baby have received over 5,000 products to disperse to children in need, including cribs, books, backpacks, diapers and have received monetary donations from around the globe – from Guadalajara to Italy. You made this happen. Thank you.

Last week’s announcement from Buckingham Palace sparked speculation that the baby had already arrived. It read: “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.

“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Do you think Baby Sussex has already arrived?

  • Such a lovely message for them to request this instead of gifts.

  • It could very well be here! Good on them for taking their time to bond with bubs first if it is before announcing to the world

  • I think the baby is due any day and when it comes it comes

  • Can’t wait to see Baby Sussex & find out the name.

  • Their title is Sussex. I am certain that will not be the baby’s name. I can’t remember what date the predicted birth might be. Like everybody, people ….must….. respect their privacy. I hardly think they are going to arrive at the main entrance of the hospital when the baby is ready to make his way into the world. They probably unwittingly stated which hospital they will be using.

  • So glad the money is being used to help charities.

  • They’re totally entitled to privacy and I don’t even want to buy into speculation.

  • Poor woman, every little thing analysed. I’m sure if baby was here the press would be all over her arrival at the hospital.

  • I think that if the child was born, we would know it already.

  • Is it wrong for me to say that I am really not that interested?!

    Reply

  • No idea, they are keeping in private so we won’t really know before they want us to

  • Can’t wait to see a picture of the baby which should be soon!
