Melbourne Zoo has opened a Neon Playground that the kids will love and all proceeds go to wildlife conservation!

Throughout the school holidays, Melbourne Zoo is transforming itself into a sea of colour and light after dark with the launch of its Neon Playground last week. The new event is aimed at celebrating incredible Australian wildlife and supporting conservation projects, in particular, the conservation of the critically endangered Southern Corroboree Tree Frog.

Light It Up

Gates open at 5:30 pm each day between April 12th and April 27th with the zoo lighting up from once it gets dark at around 6 pm. Guests are invited to bring a torch and make their way through the neon display at their own pace, enjoying a selection of special shows and performances at various points throughout the night. Kids will be kept entertained with many of the light installations featuring interactive elements and a silent disco for those ready to bust a move. It’s important to note that the event is designed with the animals in mind so the installation is restricted to Main Drive to avoid negatively impacting them in any way. What a unique opportunity to explore the zoo after dark!

Melbourne Zoo is also hosting an egg hunt with a twist for its members over the long weekend. Participants will search for dinosaur and bird nests around the zoo that contain clues and puzzles which will allow them to claim special prizes.

With all these exciting events on offer at the zoo, it’s definitely worth heading down and checking them out! Tickets for the Neon Playground are available online and kids under 4 are free! What are you waiting for?
