Hello!

My daughters 1st birthday is in September and I have just made a guest list. There’s 60+ people on it already. To me it seems extreme, is this normal? We see all the people on the list at least once a fortnight so I’m not sure how I could justify cutting anybody out. Any tips or ideas you have for 1st birthdays would be great! Thanks. Do you have any 1st birthday ideas or tips?

  • If you have it at a play centre then you can bring your own food in if there are a lot of people. I don’t know how comfortable you are with asking people to bring a plate to share but that could be another way to cut costs.

  • My daughter’s first few birthdays was family only. We didn’t start having children’s birthday parties till she started school.

  • My kids 1st birthdays were spent at home with mum, dad, siblings and grandparents. I think nowadays they have totally blown out of proportion! The child won’t have any idea what all the fuss is about, nor will they remember any of it. I think 1st birthday parties are done for the benefit of parents, look what I’m doing, see what they got etc An unecessary expense. Better off doing the big ones for 18th and 21st

  • We are having just a family do so approx 20 people. Just a small home job Minnie mouse theme. It’s cost me $60 for food, cake & cupcakes Lolly bags for niece & nephews & that’s it. Simple, no need for extreme. The way I see it is if you go all out when they are little, how are you going to top that as they get older

  • I will definitely get a camera to shoot everything… not really worry about themes and presents. You want the memory

  • Hope all went well with the party

  • how did it go? :)

  • How did the birthday party go?

  • Just relax and try t get other people involved to lessen the pressure on you to do everything!

  • Hope the birthday went well.

  • Remember the birthday is really for the parents to celebrate the milestone, your baby wont remember anything.

  • Same we had family and close friends and that was a lot and we just had finger food and a BBQ for the main bit.

  • A BBQ might be the best way to go. A jumping castle face painting.

  • Hope everything goes well with the birthday party What did you decide

  • Invite as many as you like. 1st birthdays are a special time.
