Hello!

My sons 1st birthday is coming up in 3 weeks and going with a hot wheels / cars theme. But have no clue on what food to do that will suite everyone. Also what do other mums suggest on present ideas for their 1year old ?

  • Picture books and blocks for a one year old.

  • Partyfood- stick to the favourites and finger good which is easy to hold – cake do a racetrack.
Gifts- clothes, personalised alcohol bottle (keep to their 18th)

  • i usually just go simple and have fruit, jelly and cupcakes. its all quick simple and easy to make

  • Maybe the parents can buy one big useful toy then stock up on clothes needed. Little ones grow so quickly it is hardly worth buying too many expensive clothes. You are better off with a few reasonable quality cheap outifts than one expensive one unless you are going to a special event. If your party guests ask what you would like for your baby and you already have a lot of toys, they can either buy something suitable for later on, or they may agree to buy some clothes, even if they buy a bigger size than baby is currently wearing.

  • The first birthday always to be fun :) simple food is what I use finger carrots, and for a treat always with the fairy bread. Presents are always hard this year I went for mainly stuff they need and one big toy item and a soft teddy. Ive learned from over doing it and having to get rid of a large amount of garbage bags of toys :)

  • I would suggest cut up fruit. You can also make cute little cars out of Milky Way bars with a tinny teddy pushed into it and m and ms stuck on as wheels.

  • sandwiches, little wraps and fruit platters

  • Hot chips with sandwiches and some party pies and sausage rolls and gifts can be cars or books or action toys

  • These are some awesome ideas
ive never thought about making food themed with the party theme. I will be looking into all of these for future birthdays

  • For the present, depending on how he is going, you could maybe get a balance bike or one of those cars that you sit and move with your feet.

  • I would say donut tyres , a good idea also too look onto pinterest my mind is blank at the moment lol

  • Ohhh and you could do the mars bar cars with tiny teddy driver :)

  • I know of a party website you could order from, i know they have a cars theme :)
    http://www.popitinabox.com.au
Postage is pretty reasonable within Australia, unsure about postage outside of Australia

  • Fairy bread triangle, Vegemite pinwheels might work?

  • Food will always depend on your budget and what you guest like. Can’t go wrong with a selection of finger foods.
