Hello!

My husband loves cordial and softdrink, and when our kids see it, they want it. I am wondering if Soda Stream is a better option? I dont know too much about it and was wondering if its worth it to reduce the amount of cordial and softdrink in my home, but also keep the hubby happy

  • Have you tried fruit based Tea? I just use a fruit tea bag in a glass of cold water when I feel like something more than water.

  • No advice on soda stream but my kids love kombucha. No sugar and great for gut health :)

  • What about plain water with a slice or two of orange or lemon to give a hint of flavour?

  • Fresh juice ???

  • I think soda stream is a great idea as you can control how much syrup is put into the water, and there are no sugar and fruit juice options.

  • Soda stream is definitely cheaper and you can get sugar free options. Check out Jamie Oliver, he adds fruit to water and just lets in sit in the fridge. A nice subtle, healthy drink

  • He should stop this habit for starters! It’s not good for him and he’s setting a terrible example for the kids. I add fruit to water, in a jug, and sit it in the fridge. There are some delicious combinations and the drink tastes way better then it sounds it should. Jamie Oliver has some awesome recipes for these drinks

  • Still full of sugar! Why not try fruit in soda water?

  • Soda Stream is quite pricey and is still full of sugar! The taste isn’t that good either! Try Soda water – it provides the fizz without all the sugar of soft drinks. Adding lemon or lime juice not only gives it a burst of flavour, it also helps hydrate you faster. If it’s a little too sour for your taste, add a teaspoon of honey. Watermelon Juice – what could be more refreshing in summer than watermelon juice with plenty of ice and a few sprigs on mint? Watermelon has a high level of nutrients, minerals and antioxidants, and is low in calories. Homemade Lemonade or Ginger Beer – there are so many recipes out there for homemade lemonade and ginger beer – have a google! Just use a natural sweetener and good quality organic ingredients where you can.

  • soda stream is still sugar and sometimes people add a lot more to the drink than it necessary. perhaps try having a jug in the fridge of water with orange or lemon juice and some mint leaves for a flavoured healthy drink.

  • Do not give your kids Diet drinks! You shouldn’t drink them either. The chemicals in those drinks are toxic. What about flavoured water? Infusing water with fruits. Or smoothies made at home and juices.

  • You can make your own Kombucha. It’s fermented tea which is so good for your gut Heath. You can add you own flavourings like strawberry, oranges, basil etc and it’s naturally fizzy. Google it.

  • Any idea on the price of Soda Stream?

  • Soda stream sounds interesting. Good question, might take a look at it too?

  • Soda stream is still sugary. Or if you get to no sugar flavours its full of artificial sugar which is just as bad if not worse.
Also i find the flavour is not very nice.
In our house we buy poppers of flavoured milk. There is less sugar plus its a great way to have dairy. Its so much better for you than juice, cordial or soft drink.
