Hello!

We have very bad weather warnings for the next 24 hours or so, lots and lots of wind, hail and maybe snow. I’m sure we will lose power, possibly for hours and hours. Any suggestions on how to keep busy with no electricity?

  • Story time, play card or board games by candlelight or solar lights.

  • Hopefully wasn’t too dark at the time. Automatically thought of family board games to entertain as it might be too dark to read or write .

  • have the laptop charged up and radio etc. get drawing, colouring, writing, reading if possible, play games or build forts.

  • Telling spooky stories can be fun too if the kids are a little older.

  • It’s easy enough to keep adults busy but kids are another story. I use glow sticks to light rooms, we have a radio, colouring books, craft supplies, board games, stories, play dough & toys. We also make forts, obstacle courses & make games like hopscotch with masking tape. We’ve had a few long power outages lol

  • I’d read book at candle lights! :-)

  • Last power black out I got my powerboards organised and tidied up with labels saying what cord are what.

  • We use our emergency supply of candles and we can see in these situations.

  • Charades, shadow puppets would be good, cards, jigsaws, board games
