Hello!

Hi mums, I am searching for a few different finger food ideas to give to my 7 month old. I am looking for recipes that don’t include any frying.

  • Any cut up fruit or little rice crackers if they like crunch

  • I give my bub bananas, blueberries, strawberries, ripe peeled pears, avocado, roast chicken, strawberries, cheese, french toast, roast vegies (sweet potato, carrot, parsnip, potato, pumpkin) steamed vegies (broccoli, zucchini, corn on the cob). Anything he can get a good grip on and can gum up enough to swallow safely, He’s 11 months now and also eats sushi, rice crackers, cucumber, peeled apples – anything and everything really!

  • toast fingers, and avocado mashed
lots of mashed veges baked into vege burgers, keep covered to keep them moist
fruit slices and some mashed softer fruits as a dip

  • Following this question!

  • Just steam veggies, or roll minced food into balls, my some loves it.

  • I like to boil vegetables, just make them big enough to hold , I also like to give my daughter sausages , just cut the top off so she can eat the insides

  • Steamed carrot sticks, cauliflower florets, broccoli were all big hits with my babies. When introducing banana and avocado I spread it onto the toast sticks and gradually moved on to chunks. I always carried bananas in my bag as an instant healthy snack. There are some great websites and books out there. I was gifted The Baby and Toddler Meal Planner by Annabel Karmel which takes you from 6 months to toddlers and it was well worn and years later we still make some of the recipes as they are so good.

  • I did baby led weaning so only gave finger food.
I used to give: steamed broccoli florets, steamed carrots, toast fingers.
Do not use banana or avacado as a first finger food- they are a little gluggy and can get stuck on the roof of the mouth.
