Hello!

My nipples are hairy. This makes me self conscious to feed in public. Am i a freak?

  • No you’re not a freak ! Just like other skin surfaces on the body, the areola (dark circle around the nipple) contains hair follicles, so hair on the breast is considered normal. Shaving or plucking could lead to inflection, so if the hair is bothersome, it’s best to cut with a small scissors.

  • I get the odd black hair and just pluck them :)

  • Dont worry if anyone’s looking that hard that’s wierd

  • I have been breastfeeding for more than 2 years and I don’t think anyone has ever seen my nipple. I occasionally get a rogue hair and I just pluck it.

  • You are totally normal, just get some tweezers and have a pluck

  • Don’t let it stop you from breast feeding in public. It’s literally seconds before bub latches on, people would want to be really looking to notice hairy nipples

  • Yep just accept it as part of your body pluck them out but you’ll have to keep doind that to keep hair off!

  • Many women experience hairy nipples, you are not alone and you aren’t a freak ! A few underlying causes can lead to the growth of nipple hairs. Most of them are very common, which helps explain why hairy nipples are common; Hormonal changes, overproduction of male hormones, the use of certain medications, poly cystic ovary syndrome.
Trimming the hairs is the least risky option to do at home. I understand you feel self conscious about it when you feed in public, but really nobody can see your nipples up close (other then yourself, your husband and your baby who’s breastfeeding).

  • I think I have a few but they are really faint in colour so you can hardly see it, surely it’s normal to have hair!

We have hair everywhere, don’t feel self-conscious.

  • No way….not a freak at all. Bodies.do have hair even when there is a lot of people plucking, ripping, lasering and waxing.

  • I wouldn’t worry. No one should be looking that closely!

  • I have it too. I carefully trim with scissors. It’s a pain, but I feel better breastfeeding in public like that.

  • Women have hair on their bodies and it is normal to have on breasts. Sorry that you feel self conscious. I most certainly would not judge you. :)
