  • I’d recommend starting with just one room or space. Often once you get started you feel like going onwards with other spaces.

  • Watch the Marie Kondo series on Netflix! :-)

  • My motivation tip is to go away and stay in a self contained bedroom. This makes me come home every time to clean out. I want to have minimal belongings. Having too much clutter makes it unbearable to full clean everything.

  • Some great ideas here… Thank you all so much!

  • I have been watching the Marie Kondo method of tidying. I have found it inspiring. It can be very overwhelming to clean a whole house, so I am just doing a room at a time and just doing an hour or so a day. With the Marie Kondo method, u start with clothing. There are lots of videos u can watch on you tube to show u how to do the Marie Kondo method. All the best with your endeavours.

  • Just de cluttered my bathroom cupboards. 5 shopping bags full and ready to be tossed out. Wasn’t too hard and so much spare room in there now. That was by far the easiest room though, I’m gonna struggle with the other rooms

  • I aways find tripping over stuff a big incentive!

  • We will be moving soon so I’ve been trying to do a declutter myself. First say an epic fail. So hard to get rid of all those memories. But I’m determined, I’m going to have to toughen up as I don’t want to clutter our new home

  • Just go room by room. Start with your room. Do you even wear half of the clothes you own? and then kids rooms, toys, linen cupboard, kitchen etc. try allocating a section per weekend (or day)

  • My biggest motivation is for when someone says they’re coming over!

  • I made a vision board which I have on lots of pictures of beautiful spacious and clean rooms. I’m hoping that looking at that will keep be motivated. :)

  • Think about how easier your life will be with everything clean and organized. It will influence your mind positively too, because you will feel more relaxed. Cleaning can be boring, but after the cleaning comes the peace. :-)

  • Motivation to clean out? 1) Money you’ll save… Imagine just how much it will cost if you got someone in and see how much you can save by doing it yourself! 2) How you’ll feel … better for having had a go and not procastinating! doesn’t have to be perfect remember 3) End result …. will be worth it because you’ll have a cleaner home, less cluttered, easier to find and do things than it was 4) Less stress .. because it’s done or at least started!

  • I do one room that’s driving me nuts and cause that feels good I’m motivated. I also like to have on music I love which helps me forget about what I’m doing.

  • If the clean up is for cleaning I would have boxes ready for donating, boxes for keeping, boxes for selling. It helps to place items into these boxes and categories. Tackling a room at a time is a good idea because you can also see the progress which is satisfying.
