Hello!

Has anyone noticed the hole in the top of the Coles washing up detergent has gotten bigger? I’ve just bought a new bottle of it, went to wash up, did the usual squeeze……and heaps more than usual came out. Obviously a ploy to increase sales, so MoMs beware!

  • I don’t buy the big open necked bottles in case I drop it. I buy the 1 litre size. If you just hold it upside down sometimes it will dribble out and you can guage how much you need according to what food your dishes have been used for.

  • Thanks for the heads up! I tend to decant mine into a small pump pack anyway to save on accidentally tipping out more than I intended. Sneaky Coles!!

  • lol yes i just bought one the other day and was shocked to end up with a cloth full of liquid. i had a spare hand wash pump so i put the liquid in that and now reduced wastage.

  • Thanks for heads up, I usually don’t notice it I just use it but makes sense to get you to purchase more.

  • Thanks for informing us . I sometimes buy the small bottle of concentrate ( assuming that is what you mean ) and generally I only put a small drop as it is very strong until diluted. Have to admit, sometimes subconsciously you just squeeze out and next minute there are bubbles everywhere. Yep everything is to do with making sales and consumers to buy more often of course !

  • I also use a little tub in the sink to wash dishes as it takes less water and less detergent too.

  • yep, and I thought the same as you, but then I thought maybe it might have something to do with the fact that the spout always seems to block up with dried out detergent, regardless of whether the spout is closed between uses or not

  • Thanks for the warning. Manufacturers are always coming up with ways for us to use more of their product.

  • Change your detergent to a smaller bottle. I buy in bulk and pour the detergent into a smaller bottle with a smaller dispenser.

  • Uh huh. I am using so much more washing up detergent because I forget and just squeeze
