Hello!

Being an older Mum myself, I’m curious to know how many others there are here on MoMs. I’m 45, my husband is 50 and we have a 15 year old, 14 year old and 3 year old together. I’m happy to answer questions for other Mums about being an ‘older Mum’ too. For those who may be thinking “Wow – I could never be a Mum again in my 40’s”,  I probably would have thought the same thing in my 20’s and 30’s, but I’m loving it. Best thing we ever did!

  • I was 40 when I had my first. I’ll turn 59 in a month :0 !

  • I had my child at 38 years of age and all has gone well, but if I had my time over again I would have preferred to start a family at a younger age.

  • I’m 37, turning 38 this year and I have a two year old and a one year old.
I’d honestly love two more but I just don’t know that my body can handle it!
I find myself being super forgetful all the time and the lack of sleep is killing me.
I work 3 days a week and the other two days are kids activities like dancing and swimming so I find my weekends are filled with washing and cleaning which never seem to end.
I’m wondering whether I can really handle two more, especially if i have to work and keep up with the housework…
My kids are super clingy and I feel like I can’t get 5 minutes to myself.

  • Yep! I started later than you. I’m 45 and have a 5 yo and 4 yo. I was the second oldest in my mothers group, but the others were no more than 7 years younger.

  • Yes Im in my 40s and have a toddler and 2 school kids. I havent really noticed any difference other than having the NIPT test. I dont feel any tireder than what I had my other 2. A lot of my friends also were similar ages with their kids due to only meeting their partner later in life.

  • I was 23 and 26 when I had my babies. My mum was 36 when I was born and 39 when my sister was born

  • I had my daughter when I was in my late 30’s. I think being an older parent was beneficial mentally and emotionally, but physically I think it’s been harder.

  • I will be 53 this year and my husband is 48. We have a 12 year old daughter, a nearly 11 old son, 2 sisters in permanent foster care age 6 and 2, and a girl in temporary care age 5. They keep me young, lol

  • I am 48 and have a 19 year old daughter and a 15 year old boy. I enjoy giving advice out of my personal experiences and hope I can help others as well as learning from other parents. This has been great and lucky to even win a prize which will be a nice surprise one .Thank you MoM :)

  • Wow it is lovely to hear of these older Mums!
My Mum would have loved to be an older Mum but unfortunately had to have a hysterectomy.
I think it’s wonderful that you’re not letting age restrict you & wish all of you all the best!
I’m sure every day is a new adventure with your little ones :)

  • I had my last son at 40, I have a 25 yrs old son a 12 yr old son and a 2 yr old son. Im a tired mum but I don’t get much help.

  • Congratulations Mom GOULDIE! Fantastic for you and your family! :)

  • Lovely to have a wide range of ages in your family! :)

  • We had our first, and probably only baby, last year after years of hoping. I’m 44 and hubby turned 45.

  • I’m not that old I guess…39…but I have a 3 year old, a 15yr old and a 21yr old. I gotta tell ya though I find it much harder having a 3 year old now than I did at 20. Lol. ;)
