Hello!

Hey mums I am nearly 8 weeks pregnant and was wondering if anyone would tell me what the baby bonus payment is now? Last time I got paid parental leave with my son so I don’t know. Thanks.

  • No baby bonus anymore
Check out the centrelink website to see if your eligible for a parenting payment
You can get around $200-$300 from centrelink for newborn supplement

  • It’s a newborn supplement now. It’s 1500 for your first then $1000 for 2nd and 3rd then none I think

  • I think that it’s only a grand for subsequent children

  • I would suggest you contact the relevant government agency for updated information. There online information will also be able to provide you with lots of information too.

  • yeah it was helpful for people being able to get things like a car, car seat, cot etc, bigger house rental

  • The 18 weeks paid parental leave is now what is offered – it’s at minimum wage which is “The national minimum wage is currently $16.87 per hour or $640.90 per 38 hour week (before tax).” (sourced from http://www.fairwork.gov.au/About-us/policies-and-guides/Fact-sheets/Minimum-workplace-entitlements/minimum-wages#current-national-minimum-wage).

  • Baby Bonus has gone, eligible recipients will receive $2,000 for first child and less for subsequent children, however it is not received as a lump sum payment, $500.00 up front the rest is split into fortnightly FTB Part A paid fortnightly over a three month period.

  • I’m glad there’s no baby bonus anymore.

  • No baby bonus anymore.
    Now called newborn supplement payment.
For first child it’s around $2000 and second child onwards is $1000

  • The baby bonus is no longer but is now I think called newborn supplement which is $1000 but not 100% sure as I’m currently on the paid parental leave which is minimum wage for 18 weeks. Dad’s can also two weeks paid leave as well but again it’s minimum wage. Best to check with centrelink!

  • It has decreased so much in payment.

  • You will now be able to get the 18 weeks paid parental leave instead, which works out to be more anyway. Previously you could choose to either get the lump sum baby bonus or the paid parental leave

  • Follow the link posted a few posts down and check the table and other info that is relevant to your situation.

  • Yep the other ladies are correct there is no longer a “baby bonus” it finished as of March 2014.

  • Checkout the new health services website (formerly Centrelink), there should be up to date info available there.
