Hello!

Does anyone know if the berries contamination extends to berries found in breakfast cereals?

  • I would say no, given the amount of preservatives that would be on the cereal to stop the berries going off

  • I hope not I’ve just bought the new berries and coconut weetbix.

  • All the breakfast cereals are dried , I think they are different . Maybe just ring up the company that makes the cereals such as Kellogs if still concerned . It has been a long while ago though so should be fine for all now .

  • It was only in the frozen Nanna brand of berries. It didn’t include breakfast cereal berries. Not the I remember reading anyway. It was a while ago now :/

  • I believe it was in the packs of frozen berries alone however, if you aren’t sure I’d perhaps throw away or ask where you purchased them from

  • Great question. Im keeping to fresh food

  • That is a very good question. I think the safest bet would be to avoid any imported berries or fruits for that matter. Unfortunately in some of these overseas countries they do not have the best water supplies like we do in Australia.

  • I didn’t even think of this. great question.

  • Not sure but I am staying away from all things with berries in it

  • I have become paranoid about all fruit products now, sad really..

  • Not sure but now it’s got me questioning everything esp baby fruit packs the heinz and aldi ones as they say made from local and imported ingredients?

  • They would be recalled its only the frozen berries.

  • yes i also did wonder about what other places bought these for example ice-cream shops.

  • I would doubt it, the recall is for some frozen berries, most cereal has dried berries and these are not affected at this stage, if it Is a concern to you avoid cereals with berries in them for the time being.

    I……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

  • I looked into whether we can still have fresh berries – they are not supposed to be contaminated, only the frozen ones. So only guessing that cereal is likely to be safe.
