How have other Mums managed when their milk came in after delivery? This is my first baby so looking for some tips from other Mums.

  • The thing that I was most unprepared for was the painful nipples. Get a good lanolin balm! I also recommend investing in an electric breast pump. I used mine so much and it was well worth the cost.



  • Pads are a must or it can embarrassing. Get the right comfortable bra for yourself too.



  • Have breast pads and a lanolin cream to help ease the pressure. Express if you need to and ask as much as you need to while still in hospital.



  • It won’t be easy at first, it will hurt and you will probably get cracked nipples, invest in a breast pump so if it does happen you can express for a few days while they heal. Oh and use your midwives as much as possible while in hospital and get recommendations for a lactation consultant just in case.
