Hello!

I have 5 year old twin girls, who have started prep this year. I am currently looking for a desk set up for them to do homework and other activities like reading eggs etc. They are in the same class at school and will be while they are at the school they are currently in. I wonder what way do you think it would be best to set up, the desks either side by side or opposite each other. The room they are in I have my computer in the same room. which allows me to pay bills and do my work, while they are doing their stuff. What I find at the moment when they do reading eggs one child get distracted by the other kid. Any suggestion with reason would be great. Thanks in advance.

  • If you have the room to put them on opposite sides of the room, with backs to each other, that would be ideal.

  • We always worked at the dinner table. It’s normal for kids that age to get distracted, they will learn.

  • If one distracts the other, wouldn’t it be best to have them in separate rooms? If you can’t manage that, at least set the desks up so they can’t see each other

  • Yes see what you can fit in! They will get used to working next to someone without the distraction!

  • try to fit in what you can for space and see how it goes. They will get used to it as they will have children in the classroom that are distracting them, they will get used to working next to someone.
