Hello!

I use so much parsley and other herbs in my cooking and its expensive to buy from the supermarket. Can I plant some parsley now in the cold weather or do I wait till spring?

  • I have parsley growing in a window box. So easy, open the window, and there’s my herbs. It grows there all year round. I just pick off the dead bits and the flowers when they appear. Reminds me, I need to fertilise it

  • My parsley used to grow up by itself in early winter, then when spring came, it grew in seeds. I also use a lot of parsley, but the best time to plant parsley is spring. Parsley seed is tiny and gives all sorts of problem during planting. You can try to seed it in pot. Feel pot with soil, on top sprinkle some seeds, then cover it, keep in warmer place (where you have some sun during the day), and instead of watering take a flask of water that’s just came off the boil and is very hot and pour it onto the seed. Hot water helps to grow faster. The same trick you can apply when you grow Italian celery (which has root), thyme, sage… Hope this can help you.
