Hello!

I know you are supposed to prune roses in winter, but is it ok for me to prune them now? Unsure if I will kill them or not. New home, very overgrown garden

  • you are a legend, thank you!

  • Roses are like weeds, extremely hard to kill. I pruned mine right back to basically sticks one year. I freaked I might have killed it. It’s now back to where it was and needing another huge prune

  • thanks Mums!

  • I wouldn’t .If you live in a hot area and most of us do you take the risk of them getting burnt.

  • Show due care during the warmer months and I would suggest getting some advice from the local nursery in your area. Summer can be so unforgiving with pruning.

  • You can do a light prune now.
-Take off the dead flower heads.
-Remove anything dead, damaged or diseased.
In Winter do a more severe prune. :)
