Just a firm “we don’t spit” an take their bottle off them. Hopefully the phase passes.

kids go through many stages this is just one of them. Its fun.

It’s just a phase the little ones are going through. To them, it’s a game. I’d tell them spitting is yucky and remove their water bottles from them when it happens. They’ll grow out of it – and move on to picking their noses and eating the boogers, or sticking their fingers in their mouths and making funny faces, etc.

I think its just a phase that their going through because I have 21 month old twins who do exactly the same, they drink out of a water bottle and think its funny to spit at each other and on the ground.

try some good distractions and maybe not feed them close together? i admire you bringing up twins

I am sure they are just having fun, say no to their behaviour, and try to distract them with something else.
