Hello!

I’m not in favour of giving tea to my bub..but just out of curiosity and concern, I’d like to know if these beverages are ok for bubs, in small quantities?

  • Not a good idea. Tea is not designed for babies and their digestive system. I wouldn’t.

  • Tea also has Tanine in it.

  • Me personally would not and see no reason to give tea to a baby. Maybe certain herbals ones maybe but would research them.

  • I wouldn’t. I’d stick to water and plain milk.

  • Definitely not black tea! It contains caffeine. Some herbal teas would be fine, in moderation, a few of these may help some baby ailments. But not too much

  • no i don’t think that i would give them tea. i don’t think that you are meant to

  • Depends on what sort of tea

  • I would not be giving a baby tea personally. I’m sure no harm would be done, but it’s simply not necessary. Water and milk are fine

  • I used to put chamomile tea in my son’s milk bottle of an evening if he was fractious… seemed to settle him x

  • I wouldn’t give it to a baby no I wouldn’t even give it to my 2 or 6 year olds but eacvh to their own I don’t drink tea either but I am sure it has caffeine

  • When I am unsure about giving something to my children I think about what benefit it would give them ie vitamin, mineral, protein. Not sure about tea, type of tea etc. I’d stick to water and watered down juice personally

  • No I wouldn’t give it to my children – it isn’t good for them.

  • I wouldnt give it to a baby. Although my kids who are 3, 5 and 7 have had a sip of mine on occasions as they wanted to know what it tastes like. I dont think they will be asking to do so again for a while as they didnt like it.

  • Tea not only has caffeine in it, it also has tannin in it which is also dangerous for little ones.
It isn’t really good for adults either. I don’t know whether the herbal teas contain chemicals.
I would see professional advice, possbily from a paediatric nurse, paediatrician, or perhaps a qualified pharmacist who is an expert in herbal medicine.

  • I’m not certain, but I have heard of chamomile tea being used
