Can I use the same chopping board for meat and veg if I scrub in between?

  • If you chop vegies before meat its fine. Otherwise I’d put it in the dishwasher in between or really scrub it and maybe even bleach it. If its a wooden one just throw it straight out. You can’t get those clean at all.

  • I wouldn’t, just to be sure. I have chopping boards for meat and separate one for my veggies

  • I have 3 different chopping boards and set out to have one for each thing like chicken, meat, veggies etc. But I don’t follow that. I use whichever is clean!
I would definitely wash in between chopping veg, cutting meat etc so as not to contaminate though

  • Yes that’s what I do . I don’t like seeing meat blood if I have to chop vegies . I usually chop vegies first then you can cut the meat as it is easier that way as a habit for me . That way you can clean it properly after the meat is cut .

  • I do – I always cut vegetables first tho before using for meat

  • Separate boards is the key to kitchen hygiene.

  • I cut them separately and clean the board after cutting any meat , or do the vegies first then cut the meat , then you wash it once .

  • i have 4 chopping boards. i have worked in kitchens for years and learnt to use colour coded boards so that you dont cross contaminate…
    Green for fruit and veg
    red for meat
    blue for fish
    yellow for chicken
and you can also use white for bread if you need it…

  • I personally use two different chopping boards.
I also have a third chopping board for sandwich making!
When it comes to hygiene you just can not be to careful.

  • Good answers! Really interesting comments read on this!

  • I like to use 2 different boards, one for meat and one for veggies.

  • Absolutely not. Use two different ones.

  • I use different ones!!

  • I always prefer to use two different ones

  • I do, I just make sure I give it a good wash if I use MEAT on it first, before I use it for anything else. I have a glass chopping board.
