Is it possible to make moisturisers without alcohol?

  • Yes, I would think so. I’ve never seen that as an ingredient in commercially made products.

  • Of course you can ! I make mine from unrefined raw shea butter, coconut oil and a bit of olive oil.

  • Absolutely, yes, alcohol I believe usually acts as a preservative. If you have coconut oil and a stand mixer you can whip it uo into a beautiful moisturizing cream/body butter type thing, add a few drops of essential oil, beautiful for your skin

  • wow i don’t know, never thought about it. surely you can and have a more organic product, maybe a shorter product life. Have to use it up in a few days vs the alcohol preserving it for a longer time.

  • That is a very good question. Alcohol tends to dry your skin lessening the benefit of the moisturising ingredients. I wonder if we actually inhale the alcohol from it.
I know a guy who gave a positive reading to alcohol at a RBT. He has a medical problem and never consumes alcohol – including in medication or uses mouthwash. He had accidentally inhaled it. He worked out where he inhaled it and no longer goes there.

  • use olive oil in your moisturizer and only use natural ingrediants…

  • Yes, but I think they have a shorter life period. You can make all sorts of things using aqueous cream with olive oil or liquid paraffin, or other types of bases. Pharmacies commonly compound these, but there is no reason you couldn’t search for recipes online. I would recommend only making 100g at a time, until you know how much you are using.
