Hello!

Are the black/charred edges of BBQ food bad for you? We have lots of barbecued food but after a friend mentioned this, I’m a bit worried.

  • I’ve never thought they’re good for you, but then again people add charcoal to everything these days.

  • well pretty much everything is bad for you if you have too much. burnt bits are higher in carsenagens which are not good for you body, but unless you are eating bbq/char grilled food 7days a week i would not be overly concerned

  • I have never consider it a risk till now! Thanks!

  • From what I’ve read online, charred/ burned meat is not good for you. There may be links with cancer. If you’re really worried you might want to do some further research online and in the meantime, take care when you barbeque.

  • It can’t be good for you. I would stay away from it.

  • I don’t think it is poisonous or anything but it is harder for your body to digest which and lead to liver/kidney problems.
