Hello!

My little one wakes up at 2 am every night and then doesnt go back to his cot. So half night je sleeps in his cot and half with us. What is the best way to teach him to sleep through the night in his cot?

  • Just take him back to his bed and have a chat maybe and let him know hes going to be fine and maybe just stay for a while and let him get used to it slowly be persistent and consistant

  • I did co sleeping with my first son occasionally when i wasnt able to settle him down. Usually once he is a sleep, i put him in his cot and when he wakes up during a night i just sit next to his cot and try to put him back to sleep. In the beginning we put his cot next to our bed so he can get used sleeping in his cot and the same time he will get a feeling that he is still close to me.

  • You just need to keep putting him back in his cot. He may not like it but he’ll soon get the message that he needs to stay in his bed.

  • You could try putting something you have worn in the cot as a cot sheet under the baby so that they have your smell next to them. Pehaps have the cot sheet on your bed and use it in the cot either that night or the following one. I was minding a small baby one night who wouldn’t settle. I laid her on the middle of the King Size bed while I got into my PJs. Within 5 minutes she was sound asleep.

  • I slept with both of my kids when they were babies and never had a problem. they slept right through except when I was feeding them. I had perfect night sleeps 90% of the time and didn’t care what anyone else had to ay about it. they both started sleeping in their own bed from the age of 18months
