You can buy tins of coconut milk but I have not seen coconut cream. I use coconut oil and also coconut butter and they are quite different

  • The cream of anything will be thicker than the milk of anything. You can always add some water to stretch it out to make more coconut milk.

  • No, Coconut cream is the milk without the liquid and if my knowledge is correct , it is the solid extracts from the coconut , which is why it comes out thick and solid . It is best to use the recioe as it says as it will be very precise when it comes to the ingredients otherwise it will ruin your cooking or won’t turn out the texture that is meant to be . I enjoy the taste of coconut but I cant use coconut as an ingredient in skincare such as lotions etc..


  • Cream is much thicker than milk. A bit different but mostly used for the same things. Unless wanting a thick texture. Chill a tin of coconut cream to use as a cream substitute with desserts

  • coconut cream and coconut milk are different (one is a lot thicker) it’s like milk vs cream. They can be used in the same way tho without affecting recipes toomuch


  • I cooked some scotch fillet steak and we had red peppers, onions and mushrooms with it [ all sliced and cooked in a pan in coconut oil ] oh and some bok choi too. It was simply delicious.

  • yes i see that this has been answered. i didn’t think that there was a real major difference besides the thickeness of them. I has used cream instead of milk for recipes before and i don’t think that it was a big deal. it is a pretty yummy addition to meals.


  • I had a look in our local supermarket today and there was no coconut cream only coconut milk. I asked if they could get me some and they said they would try but they think it might not sell!!!!

  • it is similar to the difference between normal milk and cream – consistency is different and cream is a richer texture but you can use either/or in much of your cooking.
