Hello!

Whenever my house is dirty I go crazy. My husband keeps telling me the house is clean, but I always see all the dirts and feel the house is dirty. I often fight, get angry and stress because of dirty house. Anyone else? Is it normal or is it just me being too fussy?

  • We have just became empty nesters and I am finding the house is now so clean and no clothes hanging around and less laundry which is a big plus

  • As my daughter gets older she is taking on some of the housework which is great.

  • No it doesn’t stress me any more. I know I clean regularly and am quite organised, however with 4 kids the house gets quickly dirty. I’ll clean again but I also can postpone it with a day or till whenever I can make the time and find the joy. It’s important but not the most important, I’ve learnt to prioritize

  • I am always amazed that I can see dirt and grime and rubbish yet hubby sees nothing! I admit I have loosened up a bit since the kids moved out, but I’m still a stressed and hubby just doesn’t give a s@$t! Frustrating

  • The older I get the less I worry about everything, including housework. I still keep a clean house but I don’t fret about falling behind. There’s always time for housework.

  • Me too! It drives me crazy! But there are times I run round and round and seem to get nowhere. My hubby’s the same, he doesn’t notice or dare. But I do

  • I do my best to keep a clean house and by most people’s standards it is clean. I know I could dust and vacuum more often, but life is too short. Housework is never-ending.

  • I am like you. Before my kids my house could be compared with a hospital, everything very clean, kind of sterilised. Today with 2 kids, sometimes I go crazy because it is impossible to keep the house clean and tidy. I clean my house all spare time I have and sometimes I feel guilty thinking that I should use those minutes to play with my kids as they grow so quickly.

  • maybe you have OCD? As you get older this kind of thing matters less. A neat house is still a good thing for me, but I am not as crazy about it as I was in early 20’s. Live and let live. Who says your way is the right way? He deserves to live comfortably too. Good luck!

  • With 4 kids, my house is rarely tidy, it seems as soon as clean it is messy again. But its not dirty so I think there is a difference.

  • I guess it depends on whether your house is actually dirty or if it’s just messy. There is a difference.

But I know what you mean. If my house is messy, I almost feel itchy as though it’s upsetting me. And I am certainly no clean freak. But I feel that if the house is neat and tidy, then you can relax and enjoy your time at home.

  • I’m the same, I just love a nice clean, tidy and sweet smelling house.

  • I feel the same as you at times and I hate it. Cleaning the house is a job that never ends because as soon as you clean an area someone else will mess it up again and walk away. I have family that visit and tell me my house is clean but I can always see areas that aren’t. I set a certain amount of cleaning jobs to do per day and it seems to be working because once I’ve done them I if someone messes it up, I make sure they clean it again before they go anywhere.

  • Sorry to hear that it is causing you stress; maybe try and time limit the cleaning.

  • yep and we are all a little ocd. males either don’t see it or don’t want to hear about it lol
