Hello!

We have a mice problem at the moment. We have traps set and have those sonic plug-ins, but we are still getting them in the house and roof. We can’t seem to find how they are getting in. How do we discourage them?

  • I would get a professional in to fix the problem.

  • An exterminator told me to use the traps and bait outside otherwise you are encouraging them to come in to eat

  • I permanently have rat sak in my roof and under my house (the under house is sealed off so it’s of no danger to others) This is doing an excellent job at keeping rodent numbers down. We still get them, not so many tho and they don’t last long

  • As you have tried traps; maybe it is time to get in a pest controller for some expert advice.

  • We had a mouse plague here. We set up buckets of water with wood panels for a bridge leading into the bucket. Then got an empty cool drink bottle and placed peanut paste on the end. The mice tried to eat the peanut paste but ended up in the bucket. Similar traps can be made in the ground. All food into tins. Put peppermint tea bags in the drawers and cupboards. Spray peppermint essence and water on benches and in cupboards. Dont forget to put mouse bait in the ceiling

  • Its a good idea to put bait in the ceiling and under the house also outside near the hot water system if you don’t have pets as the may nest there in the colder months

  • I’d suggest keeping all food and animal foods / grains if you have any in air right containers. If you have birds or other caged pets try to keep their pens tidy as that also attracts them. Also the peanut butter trick works really well if you need to catch them.

  • I’d call an exterminator.

  • It is the cold or wet weather. They are just trying to stay warm :-) . Maybe get a cat. With cat scent around they may not find house As tempting. Good luck.

  • My best advice to to remove any potential food sources, I will admit I have zero tolerance for rats and mice (we have some nasty diseases in the tropics carried by vermin) so I do use sachets of ratsak, works every time! I also know someone who keeps a rather large python in her roof, but bugger that!

  • Always had success with peanut butter in traps but recently heard peppermint oil works well to deter them.

  • did u solved the problem? i never had this problem but was surprise to know peanut butter remedy :) cool

  • We have problems also ,we removed any think mice eat & look for nests &remove .They come in for leftover pet food.

  • It might be best to call a pest inspector
