Hello!

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone could recommend me a naturopath (in Adelaide) who deals with eczema in babies. Does anyone have anything that has worked for them? I have tried moogoo, steroid cream, papaw, antibacterial creams, copious moisterising etc all of which haven’t really helped. And has anyone found out the root cause that have caused baby eczema? Thanks.

  • We found our paediatrician helpful for allergy testing & QV Baby moisturizer helped Alot.

  • Really happy to see you were looking for a natural treatment. I’ve read some terrible side effects of some medical options

  • A diluted mix of bleach can work also having less baths and baths that aren’t very warm with no soaps…. hope this may help

  • Regular sessions swimming in the ocean worked wonders for my little nephew

  • I would ask for a referral to an allergist. It could be the fabric your baby’s clothes are made from. Most have some synthetics in them and you may have to find 100% cotton. Your baby could also be allergic to some foods.
It could even be Adelaide water. I know a little one whose Dad was transferred to Adelaide with his job within a month the little boy was red and scaly all over, especially his legs. They tried a huge variety of soaps etc., medications, creams and ointments, and numerous allergy tests. The discovered it was the water and were told to wash him as little as possible as the water was aggravating it. That was OK in Winter but not in Summer. His Dad applied for an urgent transfer and was given one pretty quickly. On returning back to NSW his eczema started to show signs of healing within a fortnight. Not in his particular case, but I also know somebody who couldn’t use water that had been through a water softener.

  • Maybe try goats milk soap, only a few bucks, worked wonders, healed it,I have had really bad psoriasis on my legs, body at times healed it ,rubbed on affected area in shower. You could try using it,it really could work.It seemed to take some of the redness away in parts right away.I have had this for 28 yrs ,suffering at times & finally my gran sent me some goats milk soap, would be less harsh on Bub then what you have been through.

  • So good to know! There really interesting comments on this!

  • Probiotics helps like yakult, or what worked for both my babies was Ethical Nutrients Eczema Shield it is a powder you can add to their milk or drink. You have to keep it refrigerated and it contains 70 billion lactobacillus rhamnosus organisms.

  • Try QV wash and QV lotion and dont make the baby wear too many layers…keep the room temp comfy and a cotton layer should resolve this issue

  • Food allergies can cause it. I have various friends whose kids are all effected by different things but very much worth testing. My son was impacted by tree nuts.

  • Goats milk soap works wonders on babies and infants, then paw paw lotion as they get older.

  • Try Nutri rich oil great for the skin and wash in the nutri clean OLC its great on the skin and you can use on pets, clean fruit and veg. The cleaner non-irritating even on sensitive skin. http://www.nutrimetics.com.au/tracybaker

  • try using caroline’s cream ! works wonder on my daughter

  • hi there, how is all going now. have u tried aveeno

  • Good advice below – hope it has helped.
