  • I love the Wind in the Willows. A classic.

  • Try with Dr Seuss’ books. My daughter at that age loved Richard Scarry’s books too.

  • Don’t overlook the classics, such as Famous five and little house on the prairie. My children (3 and 5 yrs) love Billie B Brown and Hey Jack! Both are by Sallie Rippen. They are great books as you can discuss so much with each book. For example, one is called the Bully Buster. I had good conversations with my kids on what is a bully, what to do if you see a person bullying someone else or what to do if you are being bullied. The books have 4 chapters each and are written so that they can also be read independently. Billie B Brown also has stories for kindy age and then Billie B Mysteries for slightly older kids.
