Hello!

Last time we moved we had trouble with the removalists breaking things and not doing a very good job. What are some tips for finding a good reliable removalist?

  • Ask for recommendations on a local chat page. The ones that are mentioned the most will probably be your best bet :)

  • Here are some tips you can use while hiring a reliable company
    1. If you want the best service, be sure to take the time to find the best promoters. Hiring a service provider at the last minute will increase your moving costs. After all, your goods must be lifted and packed carefully to avoid damage to valuables.
    2. make sure that the packing box to be used is designed for the type of person to be packed.
    3. Check hidden costs to ensure that the total cost of the transfer does not include any hidden costs.
    4. Hiring a vendor who offers the lowest price is not a good idea. You can find providers that offer special offers and many free services, but you don’t want to give in to them.

You can hire PR Removals in Australia as they provide reliable and secure moving services. For more information, you can check their website https://www.prremovals.com.au/removalists-services-in-brisbane-southside/

  • Did you pack the items yourself or did they? Depending what it was I wrapped breakable things in either bubblewrap or plenty of newspaper. My removalist also supplied me with some paper suitable for wrapping but I had already packed some of the things. Some supply you with cartons suitable for packing. When you have emptied them you call them and they come and collect them. I only moved from one side of the city to another though. Items I still had the original boxes for I used them. Boxes I knew had fragile items in them I labelled. Some I also labelled “top load” so that they didn’t put heavy things on top of them. I didn’t have anything broken or damaged. However I did buy a new bed and sofa which was delivered by the companies I bought them from so they weren’t in the removalist’s truck. The old items I replaced had pretty well worn out.

  • Check out friends and family who have moved and get their advice. Or let them know moving and to ask around for you. Personal advice is always best as from there experiences. Hope you get a good removalist

  • When we moved from NSW to WA we asked a couple of companies to come by for a quote. We also checked for reviews online. And then we chose one company sure we had made the right choice. Well… not! We had some new closet doors with glass that arrived here completely moldy. On moving day in NSW it was raining and it looks like they left the doors under the rain for hours! On the grass! So the only advice I could make.. is which company not to choose! :-)

  • Good point/comment from the mum below – if moving is quite a distance it may indeed be a good idea to hire someone and to get a lot of quotes.

  • We have only used removalists once and that was because we were moving from WA to Tas, quite a big job. I would google some companies and email them with your requirements. Read through their replies and contact the ones most suitable by phone. You can often find online reviews for companies too that can be helpful

  • We have always done it ourselves and it is a big job.
I would suggest getting advice from family and friends and then searching for reviews on the companies.

  • Get local recommendations from people who have first hand experience. If you don’t know anyone personally ask on the Facebook page for your local area and you should get plenty of advice.
