  • Yes my daughter had impetigo when she first started school horrible it is plus she has Eczema so the combo was not good she ended up in hospital with it

  • My Daughter has. It seemed to clear up quickly once the doctor gave her some cream to put on it. It was better in days although took about a week to fully heal. It was hard to stop her from touching it all the the though.

  • Does the school, you are somebody else where your children play have a sandpit which isn’t covered when not in use. I agree with the other comments re cats using the sand as their toilet. Our neighbours had an issue with a stray cat. The sand had to be replaced and the new covered except when the children were actually playing in it. I don’t know whether or not it is contageous

  • I’ve never heard of it but sounds terrible.

  • My friends sister has impetigo and it looks so horrible and caused her to be grouchy for a while. But the antibiotics she has to tKe because she can’t have penicillin means she has to stay out of the sound which makes it hard.

  • yah… they are part of young kids school life, keep them home for a few days – they look hideous, but all good

  • I got scratched by a cat an it got infected which turned into impetigo. a nasty thing to look at.

  • Impetigo is a bacterial infection so may require an antibiotic, be it lotion or oral treatment. Definitely check with your GP to get the appropriate treatment.

  • School sores are quite common among the younger years (especially pre primary). Your GP should be able to prescribe an ointment that clears them up within 2-3 days. We kept the tube in the fridge (they have a long use by date). As soon as you see them developing, pop on a pinhead amount of ointment. Once kids are in year 1 or so, they don’t get them anymore.
