  • Wow at fairy, you moved to Oman ?! How did you like it ?

  • No but it would be such an exciting adventure!

  • My parents did in the 60s. From England to Australia with 3 kids aged 6 months, 4 and 8. I’ve gone from WA to Tas

  • Yep we moved from Adelaide to Oman in the Middle East then to Perth and then back to Adelaide. For the international transfers a company came in and packed everything up and container was sent overseas and unpacked too. Depending if work is transferring you as ours did they handled everything from visas to drivers licences. We had to sort out schools and a car but we leased that. Work out what you can leave in storage and what you want to take lessensbthe container size. All in all the moves weren’t stressful at all.

  • Yes, organisation is your friend. Estimate how long you think it will take to pack and sort things out and then double it!! The amount of hoops to jump through can be overwhelming. If you are relocating with work, often there are some team members / packs in the organisation who can give you specific advice and help. For me, the most arduous task was opening a bank account – it seriously took about 5 months.

  • Love this question and reading responses as it’s something my husband and I have talked about since our trip to Orlando, Florida 2 years ago. We are constantly talking about the possibilities.

  • Yes, I did twice. The first time just myself to Northern Ireland, where my husband is from, the second time with my hub and our kids to Australia. Both times we shipped a container with our most precious belongings.

  • Well, not exactly packed up and went overseas, as once we were hoping to develop a business in a country where there’s prospects, we did take a selected personal belongings and lived in a hotel suite for 6 months, things didn’t pan out and we returned home.

  • Yes, I did, different times in my life. It wasn’t always easy, in particular the first time when my husband and I moved to a new country without anything. No job, no friends or family, a new language.. We were young, just the two of us, so we took it as an adventure. And we loved it there and stayed at the end for 6 years.
Are you planning to move overseas?
