Hello!

Has anyone used Champix to quit smoking? Both Hubby and I smoke but have taken the decision to quit and based on doctors recommendation, have started on Champix tablets. I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience using them?

  • My sister in law tried them. She passed away last August from smoking induced emphysema. I think the damage was done before her quit efforts kicked in

  • My husband used these 5 years ago to quit and was very successful he found he didn’t have cravings and still doesn’t to this day I quit cold turkey with him and I struggled for a while with cravings and still get them occasionally. They are a mood altering substance though and if you suffer from drepression it is suggested you don’t take them.

  • I have friends that used it and succeeded, but had vivid dreams and mood swings.
Good on you for taking the step

  • Not me but close friends. it gives crazy dreams, very vivid but super weird. It also made one friend more aggressive, but they both said it really helped with trying to quit.

  • Didnt add before if you are lucky enough to have a health care card for the family they are affordable,, But then again if you are not one months supply is heaps less than smoking… Save the money and treat yourselves o a holiday after a month or so.. Even if its only a coule on nights away.. you desevr it for the attempt at giving up…

  • Good luck on quitting cigarettes,l haven’t used it but l knew a person who did and was successful.

  • My partner went on champix and although he cut down on smokes, after a month on it, we agreed it wasn’t the best choice for him. He had really bad mood swings on it, it was bad. He also felt nauseous, but that’s a common side effect. My mother has been on it too and it has worked better for her so what works for some may not work for others, unfortunately it just didn’t agree with my partner! Good luck to you both though, I hope it works out for you guys :-)

  • I’m not a smoker but really impressed with the decision you and your hubby made and took action. Wishing you a successful journey, if you have any reaction to Champix, best to go back to your GP for further advice. Good luck!!

  • Never heard of it, maybe see a GP for the best advice and referrals to quit smoking programs?

  • I did a few years ago – made me really nauseous.I stopped after 2 weeks and no more smoking

  • I used champix once, they do work but are not for everyone, I was constantly sick for two weeks. Stick with them if you can add my mother swears by them, good luck!

  • I’ve heard not recommended if there is any history of mental illness. Other than that the products works.

  • I don’t smoke, but I wanted to wish you and your husband success in your attempt to quit smoking.

  • Yes i have and i did manage to quit for six months, then hit some hard times so sadly started again..
dOnt be fooled in thinking I will just have one there is no such thing.. If you both do it together there hopefully will not be any on hand to given into temptation.. Goodluck
