Hello!

Would love to know who has used flushable wipes and is it worth buying them? Would they be good for toilet training?

  • Hubby used them when he had haemorrhoids in 2018 as they’re nice and gentle on the sore bits, they’re moist so it’s easier to clean. But they cause huge issues in septic tanks. They just don’t break down, they shouldn’t be allowed to call them flushable wipes as they shouldn’t be flushed!

  • They claim to be flushable wipes. But they bunch up in your sewerage system causing blockages. They’ve been in the news quite a bit the last 12 months or so. They’re wonderful to use, but not to flush

  • I work for a plumbing company and flush-able wipes are a big no no, they are just as bad as flushing a normal wipe. They do cause major blockages if used a lot and can cause you more harm then good. If you don’t want to pay for getting the pipes unblocked then i would steer clear from them

  • Wow, I did not know that about the flushable wipes. We used them every now and then when toilet training and did flush them – but only because they were marketed as ones you could flush. Will know for the next time we toilet train though. Thanks for letting me know!!!

  • yeah they block pipes and cause blockages at the treatment plant. it is so disgusting the rubbish that comes out of there! pads! tampons! people need to stop flushing things down the toilet that isn’t meant to go down it. lol. it is literally a person’s job to crawl down into those pipes and clean out all those blockages! just because someone was being lazy or misinformed.

  • That is quite interesting to know, its interesting that flushable wipes are technically not flushable haha…

  • They were my lifesaver after I had my bub! Haven’t really used them since though…

  • There has been a lot of press talk about flushable wipes and the fact they should not be flushed down the toilet as they are causing major blockages. So not saying not to use them just don’t flush them down the toilet. Good luck with toilet training.

  • Apparently they’re very bad for the sewer system – they’re not as flush able as the makers would have us believe.

  • I really love them and they are great after giving birth as they are gentle on the toosh. As the saying goes – it changes what you think is clean. I don’t think they are necessary for toilet training – it might cause problems later ie if they are not available, going to the toilet in public etc

  • Maybe you could give a look at this thread https://mouthsofmums.com.au/mom-answer/has-anyone-used-flushable-wipes/ that was open not such a long time ago. :-)
