Hello!

I was wondering if there are any mums out there that have been on Zoloft when trying to conceive and also whilst being pregnant? Did you have any side effects? Did your newborn have any withdrawal? Would love to know your story inc. how many mgs you were/are taking?

Thanks in advance.

  • I used Prozac during my first pregnancy.
While benzodiazepines are category D, long-term anxiety medications like Prozac and Zoloft are often described as “probably safe.” Tricyclic antidepressants and buspirone may be safe during pregnancy as well.

  • I was on 100mg while pregnant. I didn’t notice any withdrawal from my bubs. I felt far better being on it than not – I would have been super anxious without and that would have caused increased cortisol levels for bubs. The only think that I noticed was that my body seemed to be metabolising the medication faster and so I got super horrid night sweats. Good luck – make an informed decision but most importantly do what is right for you. Healthy mum, healthy baby.

  • From what I was told it depends on the individual Mum and baby.
A Mum I know had to take it. It had no effects on her baby at all.

  • My daughter was prescribed Zoloft for depression after her second bub, she went off it completely when pregnant with no 3, she has never been happier 8 months after the birth, but has to see the ENT specialist for surgical options as she was diagnosed with chronic Sinusitis involving the brain, hmmm.

  • No but i know it is o.k!

  • i took 4 mg when even i was sick. it workd really well. no side effects for me.

  • I was on Zoloft whilst pregnant with my second child and when we were trying to conceive. I switched from aropax to Zoloft as my dr said it was the safest to take whilst pregnant, so I switched and I actually become pregnant a couple of weeks after switching. It was a horrible time switching but it’s worth it. I was on 50mg whilst pregnant which I felt worked well for me. Bubs didn’t have any withdrawal that the doctors noticed, she was fighting fit and healthy. So I was extremely lucky. I had her at 7 o’clock at night and I was home the next day 11am. I would talk to your dr about it.

  • Hi my bub is almost 2 now so I can’t remember how many mg of Zoloft I was taking but it was only the lowest dose. I was on Effexor when I got pregnant so was swapped over to Zoloft because it was the safest drug for my condition of depression and anxiety. My baby did have withdrawals for a couple of days-he had twitches and sometimes shook but he has no long term effects from the drug. I was feeling horrible knowing he was going through the withdrawals but a nurse (that I knew outside of the hospital) told me not to be sad because possibly neither of us may not even be alive if I went without Zoloft !
Good luck hun I hope you’re not worrying too much xx
