Hello!

We have 2 moodles and have found a room where they think they can go to the toilet. Only in 1 room. Unfortunately we cannot close the door as there is none. Please help, I can smell it (I think).

  • Regular trips outside to ensure they have plenty of time to do their business. Then clean the carpets and spray with a deterrent and hope they don’t move onto another room

  • Thanks for posting we have the same problems interesting what some have said

  • Pee away or a similar enzyme spray on the area they keep peeing on will break down anything that’s left behind after cleaning. Also a bissell spot clean machine over the area will help. We had heaps of problems with our male beagle pup. We never caught him in the act but taking him to the spot he peed on and telling him he was a very naughty boy in a stern voice got the message through after awhile and *touch wood* we haven’t had any issues since.

  • Thank you for the advice of the spray citronella or lavender, the dogs are outside most of the day, and normally let us know when they want to go outside. We live in a cold climate so locking them outside at night would be cruel.

  • Personally I would not keep the dogs inside when they urinate on the carpet. Train them and let them go as much as possible outside.

  • I hope you manage to sort this out soon. I was interested in others answers as I have no idea either!

  • Spray with lavender and eucalyptus everyday, they won’t like it, and it will deter them.

  • Thoroughly clean carpets and spray with dog deterrent. How about give them easy, regular access to the outside so they can go out there

  • Perhaps ask a vet for some advice.

  • Clean the carpet thoroughly then spray citronella or lavender around the area. Put their water bowls outside so they go outside via a dog flap to drink and they will urinate at the same time.

  • Try spraying some oils they are natural repellents for dogs.. I think citronella is one of them.
Dogs will go were they can smell they have been before so if they can still smell there wee it might be worth giving the carpet a good clean. Is it possible to look at a baby gate to keep them out if there is no door?…. Also it’s about training them to know it’s not the correct behaviour. Might be worth looking at seeking guidance from a dog trainer.

  • Catch them in the act and correct them- say uh uh really loudly in atone you don’t normally. Get a towel and a cup of water- cover the peed on spot with the water and place the towel on top- followed by something heavy. This will suck up a lot of the pee from the carpet. Britex urine remover sprayed on area after the towel has been removed,Dogs pee where they can smell they have been before. If you have water bowls in your house take them outside- your dog will go out for a drink and a pee at the same time- take them out every hour if you can- this trains them to go pee and drink and results in less accidents outside.
